"To let women and young girls who are in a life altering situation know that no matter what has happened to them the good people of Mt. Vernon care for them and that choosing life is always the best option. We even have Tri-lakes Pregnancy Center which exists to help women in this kind of need. So by declaring ourselves a Sanctuary City for the Unborn we are telling young women who find themselves in an unexpected pregnancy that they are loved, supported, and that there are people who are willing to walk beside them as they move forward with their life.  Plus if we become a sanctuary for life, we are saying as a city that we want good business in our town and not businesses that are set-up to take advantage of people and make a profit off of them in the midst of their confusion." - Clint S.

"It is very encouraging that some Texas cities are taking action to stop the evil of abortion.  Pro-Life people have been praying to end this slaughter of innocent children because their birth came at an inconvenient time.  The city of Mount Vernon needs to stand up for what is right.  We are to obey God and not man in life issues like this. An abortion clinic in Mount Vernon, Texas would mean we endorse the murder of our children in their mother's womb which should be the safest place to be on this earth. I want Mount Vernon and every place on this planet to become sanctuaries for the unborn, truly the most innocent among us.  I know some cities have included help with adoption so all children would be welcomed into a family." - Cathy J.
